Answers to the most common questions about memorial diamonds, our process, prices, material and shipping to the U.S.
The basics
What is a memorial diamond?
A memorial diamond is a real diamond grown from the carbon in the ashes, hair or fur of a person or animal. It is physically and chemically identical to a naturally grown diamond.
For anyone who has lost a loved one or a pet and wants to keep a lasting, dignified memory, as a keepsake, a piece of jewelry or a family heirloom. And, as a Love Diamond, for couples and parents who want to turn their own hair into something that lasts.
You're guided personally by a small family team from your first question to delivery. Every step is documented, every diamond is independently certified by the IGI, and the price is fixed before anything happens, including the $89 for insured delivery of your diamond.
Material
What do you need?
About half a cup of ashes, a small portion. The rest stays with you. For hair or fur, a handful of hair is enough.
Yes. Ashes and hair or fur can be combined, that's what most of our customers choose. It makes the diamond even more personal.
Anything that contains carbon can become part of the diamond: dried flowers, a handwritten letter, sand, feathers. Tell us in your quote and we'll advise you on what works.
Process
How is it made?
The carbon is extracted from your material and grown into a diamond under high pressure and high temperature (HPHT). Then the rough diamond is cut, polished and certified by the IGI. The whole process takes 14 to 18 weeks from the moment your material arrives.
14 to 18 weeks from the moment your material arrives until your diamond is delivered. With a jewelry setting it can take a little longer.
Every order gets a sealed, fully labeled box that travels with your material through every step, matched by order number, name and your diamond's specifications. After cutting, an identification number is engraved into the diamond.
Cost
What does it cost?
Prices start at $999 and depend on size, color and cut. You get a personal, transparent quote, no hidden costs. Prices exclude applicable sales tax.

Certification
Is it real?
Yes. A lab-grown diamond is a real diamond, with the same chemical structure and physical properties as a mined one. Gem labs like IGI identify it as laboratory-grown and state this on the report.
The International Gemological Institute (IGI) is one of the world's leading gemological institutes. Every one of our diamonds is independently graded and certified by the IGI, with carat, color, clarity and cut. You can verify the certificate at igi.org.
